Situated in the heart of the medieval city, the museum occupies an ancient Benedictine monastery (Saint Martin de Tulle), a 13th century classified historic monument. The west wing and the cloitre form the museum.The museum covers local archaeology, art and ethnohistory, and tells the story of life in the tullois countryside. Accordions join the portraits of Gaston Vuillier and the watercolours of Victor Schaefer. Paintings, sculptures and medieval arts appear alongside more contemporary works are assembled over three levels.
