The average price of building land in Limousin increased in 2009, according to a report just published by the Commissariat général au développement durable.
There were 1,785 building permits issued last year, compared to 1,690 in 2008, an increase of 6% overall. The average price per square metre for building land in 2009 was 16 euros, compared with 14 euros in 2008, an increase of 14% overall. The report shows the average size of building plot sold in 2009 was 1,939 square metres, with an average cost of 31,700 euros. In 2008, the average size was 2,057 square metres with a price of 29,715 euros. In Limousin, the cost of acquiring land for building purposes will account for around 24% of the overall cost of building an individual house.
In metropolitan France, the average cost of building land in 2009 was 56 euros per square metre, an increase on the 2008 figure of almost 3.7%. However, the average size of a building plot has fallen, making the cost of land plus house build show a net fall of 3.4%. A new build project including acquisition of land and build costs was on average 194,200 euros in 2009.
