Brive gets ready to welcome the Festival de l’elevage

19 August 2010

Description:

Around 500 livestock farmers will descend on the centre of Brive next weekend, as the 2010 festival de l’élevage comes to town.

The festival brings together farmers and consumers at the huge parc de la Guierle in the centre of town, with exhibitions, demonstrations of farming techniques and equipment, and the all important judging of best of breed animals.  There will be cows, sheep, horses, pigs, and all sorts of other farm animals on show across the 10,000 sq metres of the event.

A ‘table gourmand’ will be in place with around 20 local artisans and producers offering tasting of local delicacies, such as the Denoix liqueur, mustard and conserves, as well as foie gras, wines and more.

Things get underway on Friday 27 August, with an evening conference arranged by the Correze young farmers association.  The producers market takes centre stage on Saturday 28 August, followed by the concourse bovins (best cow judging), with further judging and prize-giving on Sunday 29 August.

The festival opens from 9am to 7pm on Saturday 28 August and Sunday 29 August.  Find out more by visiting Brivemag.fr or Brive.fr.
