Description:
A bungling vandal, who set fire to a traffic radar last week, was easily apprehended by police, after leaving papers identifying him at the scene of the crime.
The speed camera, located in Isle near Limoges, was found on fire last Saturday by police after having been smashed, stuffed with papers, and set alight by a 22 year-old man from nearby Verneuil-sur-Vienne.
Police didn’t need CSI investigators to identify this perpetrator however, as he had left a number of clues at the foot of the torched radar camera. A completed pre-employment declaration form was found along with the man’s last can of beer.
He later confessed to his wrongdoing after being arrested by police at his home. It emerged that after a heavy night of drinking, he had been staggering his way past the camera, swigging his last beer of the night, when he had the idea to grab some papers, petrol and a lighter from his car, and set it alight.
He was said to have been apologetic (and no doubt embarrassed) by his actions when presented in front of the court in Limoges, where it was revealed he had no previous convictions.
